The Georgetown Police Department Canine Section is currently staffed by two officers and their assigned K-9 partner. These teams are on patrol and respond to calls for assistance in addition to their regular patrol dudites. The K-9 services provided are, tracking, evidence recovery, narcotic detection, explosive detection, and public demo.


All teams are certified by the North American Police Work Dog Association in obedience, agility, area searches, article searches, building searches, tracking, and controlled aggression. The narcotic K-9's are certified to detect marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. One K-9 is certified to locate explosives and weapons.
